About The Position

Recovery Network of Programs, Inc. (RNP) is a private, non-profit, social service agency serving the Greater Bridgeport Community and Fairfield County since 1972. RNP is dedicated to helping individuals and families facing substance use disorders, mental health disorders, and homelessness, with a mission to restore hope, health, and wellbeing. As part of its mission, RNP is expanding its innovative Community Response Initiative (CRI) program, which places CRI PSWs in law enforcement agencies. This unique position offers the opportunity to work alongside local law enforcement to address social issues affecting the community. The CRI/PSW Clinical Social Worker reports to the Program Director and ensures that the needs of Law Enforcement Partners and the community are met, providing professional and timely service in accordance with RNP's mission and philosophy of client care. This position will be located at a Law Enforcement Partner's agency in Stamford, CT, with hours from Monday-Friday, 9:00 pm - 5:00 am.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in the behavioral sciences and/or MSW with LCSW, LMFT preferred.
  • MSW with two (2) years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience while working on LCSW.
  • Experience in connecting clients to community services and resources required.
  • Knowledge of the physical, psychological, social, and economic effects of substance abuse.
  • Knowledge of mental health issues, homelessness, medical, and trauma.
  • Knowledge of Opiate Use Disorder and Medically Assisted Treatment.
  • Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate information pertinent to the provision of quality care.
  • Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships with excellent communication skills and the ability to project a professional image.
  • Must be able to pass a background check to obtain clearance to enter Law Enforcement Agencies (in addition to RNP's required checks).

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to RNP's Law Enforcement Partners and ensures access to community-based behavioral health services for the community they serve, assisting in identifying and resolving barriers to care.
  • Conducts and documents mental health evaluations in the field in collaboration with Law Enforcement Partners.
  • Works collaboratively with Law Enforcement Partners when mental health crisis calls arise.
  • Assesses and records medical, psychological, and social factors contributing to individuals' circumstances, including strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences.
  • Provides information and education on substance use disorder and Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) to individuals, families, and groups.
  • Navigates clients through or around barriers such as transportation, public benefits, and childcare to ensure successful participation in MAT services.
  • Assists in linkage to recovery support activities by removing personal and environmental obstacles.
  • Refers individuals to appropriate medical, psychiatric, housing, and/or behavioral health services utilizing designated collaborating organizations (DCOs) whenever possible for rapid program entrance.
  • Works closely with colleagues and community-based providers to ensure clients and their families receive timely, high-quality care and services, including follow-up to ensure connection.
  • Serves as a client advocate in obtaining necessary services.
  • Documents all contacts and works collaboratively with the clinical team to identify and place clients in appropriate aftercare services with tailored interventions.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary continuous quality improvement activities, weekly clinical meetings, and individual supervision.
  • Maintains detailed records of program goals and objectives.
  • Attends forums and meetings to advance CRI services provided by RNP.
  • Adheres to all Law Enforcement Partner guidelines and policies regarding behavior, staff interactions, boundaries, and communication through the proper chain of command.
  • Adheres to all documentation and reporting requirements per RNP and Law Enforcement policy.
  • Assumes all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
