About The Position

The Mayo Clinic Florida Cancer Center’s multidisciplinary team is dedicated to excellence in patient care, research, and education. In this role, you will support patients with Breast and Gynecologic cancer diagnoses and Radiation oncology patients by providing psychosocial care, including counseling, case management, education, and advocacy for patients and families facing a new diagnosis or navigating treatment. You will join a dedicated, innovative, and supportive oncology social work team. Success in this role requires passion for supporting patients and families, flexibility, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and teamwork. An OSW-C credential is preferred.

Requirements

Master of Social Work (MSW) degree
Two years supervised therapy experience in behavioral health and/or medical social work including diagnostic assessment, individual, group, and family therapy.
Florida LCSW/LICSW license to practice independently at the clinical level as required by applicable state requirements.

OSW-C credential
Clinical experience with population to be served is preferred.
Advanced knowledge of mental illness, personality development, and the types of treatment, and skills in conducting individual, group, and family therapy.
Knowledge of adjustment to medical diagnosis and chronic disease.
Strong communication skills to interact with patients, patients' family members, consultants, residents, hospital personnel, community agencies, and other resources.
Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form.
Psychosocial diagnostic skills.
Internal candidates must also attach their three most recent performance appraisals.
Internal candidates who have not met their current department's 1- or 2-year commitment, must attach an early release from their current supervisor.
A detailed equivalency evaluation is required, demonstrating a U.S. equivalent degree.
Evaluation must be completed by an organization listed as a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) (www.naces.org) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE) (www.aice-eval.org).

Responsibilities

Conducts diagnostic assessment, determines clinical interventions, facilitates crisis intervention and short-term psychotherapy and provides education for patients and their families.
Communicates effectively verbally and in writing while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external support systems.
Participates in the development and implementation of the treatment/transition plan.
Functions as an interdisciplinary team member.
This position includes specified billable patient contact hours dependent upon assigned unit/site.
Functions within the research, practice, and education shields at Mayo Clinic.
Complies with required standards for medical/legal responsibilities and serves as a resource to other allied and administrative staff within the section of Social Work and the Department of Nursing.
