About The Position

Volunteers of America–Greater New York (VOA–Greater New York) is a leading anti-poverty organization serving neighbors in need across New York City, Northern New Jersey, and Westchester. Through 70+ programs, we support over 35,000 adults and children each year, including individuals experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, youth aging out of foster care, veterans, seniors, and children with developmental delays. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following position: Position: Social Worker/Client Care Coordinator Licensed Social Worker/Client Care Coordinator (LMSW), is responsible for delivering clinical services to families in transitional housing settings. This position supports families through engagement, assessment, individualized service planning, crisis intervention, referrals, and linkage to ongoing community-based resources. Social Worker (CCC) works collaboratively with the social service team to promote family stabilization, behavioral health support, and progress toward permanent housing. University Family Residence is a transitional family shelter where residents learn essential skills that enable them to meet the challenges of everyday life.

Requirements

Master’s Degree in Social Work with LMSW Licensure
1 to 2 years’ experience.
Knowledge of adult, child and adolescent development, emotional/behavioral health and mental health, family dynamics, parent-child relationships, diagnostic classifications.
Strengths based, solution focused, and family centered practice skills.
Experience working with diverse client populations.
Knowledge of child welfare policies, regulations, safety, permanency, and well-being.

Nice To Haves

This role is in a setting eligible for clinical supervision towards LCSW licensure.

Responsibilities

Manage a caseload.
Complete psychosocial for all families in shelter. Develop individualized service plan to focus on recovery and wellness.
Complete Assessment Summary and make determination on type of intervention needed for each family.
Maintain service documentation to include client progress notes, observations and interactions about clients and incident reporting when necessary.
Provide on-call crisis intervention support.
Participate in individual service coordination activities, including vocational and educational services and support recreational and/or socialization activities.
Develop community linkages.
Refer families to appropriate community providers to address family needs.
