About The Position

Social Work Services at the Mount Sinai Hospital The Mount Sinai Hospital is a 1,134-bed facility with an extensive outpatient and specialty care network and is the largest hospital in the Mount Sinai Health Care System. It offers comprehensive social work services and programming to meet the myriad needs of the diverse populations we serve. We believe that total patient care must emphasize the physical, emotional, and social needs of each patient and their care partners. Social Workers collaborate within interprofessional teams to serve patients and the larger community from both a micro and macro level including both direct care and prevention. Founded in 1907, the Department of Social Work Services at the Mount Sinai Hospital is one of the oldest hospital social work departments in the nation with over 450 licensed social workers employed across more than 65 different program/service areas. Employment in our department provides a pathway to LCSW licensure as well as access to a broad range of continuing education, professional development and extra-curricular opportunities. The Social Work Supervisor in the outpatient child psychiatry clinic participates as part of the child and adolescent psychiatry leadership team to facilitate clinical and administrative oversight of clinic operations.

Requirements

  • NYS LCSW.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in providing and supervising evidence-based treatments with children and adolescents in a psychiatric setting.
  • Knowledge of OMH, JCAHO, ACS and Justice Center regulations and the implementation of such in an outpatient mental health setting.
  • Fluency in DSM V diagnostic classification system and ability to provide supervision and training on the application of this system with staff and trainees.
  • Experience in developing training curriculum in evidence based psychosocial treatments for interdisciplinary trainees.
  • Minimum one year in current position.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical and administrative supervision of clinic social work staff with the goal of ensuring quality service delivery using evidence based treatments, monitoring, tracking and supporting staff in meeting visit targets established by the division, identifying training needs of staff and supporting ongoing trainings in evidence based practices.
  • Management of evaluation/intake for new clients and case assignment with goal of balancing clinical and administrative mandates to ensure compliance with state and departmental regulations.
  • Provides leadership and management to ensure that clinical documentation, services and clearances of all service providers meets the regulatory standards established by outside accreditation sources such as Office of Mental Health (OMH), Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), New York State Justice Center and Division of Ambulatory Psychiatry.
  • Participates as part of Ambulatory leadership team in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Ambulatory Psychiatry.
  • Supports educational mission of the Division through oversight of the social work interns placed in the outpatient clinic, provides didactic teaching for trainees in psychiatry on psychosocial treatment of children, adolescents and families.
  • Maintains an individual caseload of children and families at the clinic, in addition to having supervisory responsibilities.
