About The Position

Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School seeks an experienced school Social Worker to serve as an Associate Teacher in 2nd Grade from August through October, followed by filling a long-term leave as a Social Worker from October through February. This individual should be passionate about advocating for and supporting students, skilled in nurturing relationships, an outstanding communicator, knowledgeable in the developmental needs and issues for children Kindergarten through Fourth Grade, and have a background in clinical skills to support a strong social work department.

Requirements

  • Current LCSW or LCPC license and master's degree in social work or counseling (required)
  • Social Work experience in a school setting and working with students with diverse learning needs.
  • Have experience reading and interpreting diagnostic assessments.
  • Must be able to work onsite
  • Ability to be energetic, collaborative, well-organized, self-directed, and have excellent time-management skills and flexibility.
  • Be skilled in developing and implementing specialized interventions for individual students, small groups, as well as full classroom instruction to nurture social /emotional growth.
  • Know how to effectively collect and interpret data for the purposes of providing developmentally appropriate services for students as well as to inform faculty, staff, and parents/ guardians.
  • Possess strong technology skills.
  • Keep informed about the expectations of the ISBE for nonpublic schools, state mandates, Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS), and any governing body that may directly impact our students.
  • Have knowledge of professional resources in the mental health field so as to support the needs that may arise in the school setting.
  • Support the mission and vision of Bernard Zell and work collaboratively with the parents, faculty, and staff.
  • Tremendous capacity to listen with compassion, genuine interest, and sincerity, and professionalism.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • As a condition of employment, all applicants must successfully pass a criminal background screening.

  • Proper Illinois state licensure for school social work (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver clinical services to students on caseload and within the school community.
  • Ongoing progress monitoring, goal setting, assessment, behavioral intervention plans, and background supporting students in need of social-emotional support.
  • Coordinate ongoing collaboration and consultation with teachers, parents, administration, and private providers, as well as with others in the mental health field.
  • Providing crisis response and interventions for students in critical need.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with students and parents, and offer parent consultation.
  • Support the lead teachers in the documentation of student learning and growth.
  • Support individual students or groups as assigned by the lead teacher.
  • Assist with the preparation and/or organization of teaching materials.
  • Supervise students at recess, lunch, drop-off, or other school duties as assigned.
  • Attend and support the planning of grade-level meetings and grade-level functions
  • Regularly communicate with both the grade-level team and the Head of Lower School.
  • Report writing and clinical notes documentation.
  • Design, develop, and support the implementation of social-emotional curriculum.
