About The Position

The Center for Treatment of Eating Disorders in St. Paul includes both an inpatient hospital program as well as outpatient clinic services for patients with eating disorders. MSW students will be able to learn and utilize evidence based psychotherapies for the treatment of eating disorders. Types of therapy include family based treatment (i.e. "The Maudsley Method"), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Enhanced for Eating Disorder, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for mood and anxiety disorders. Students will be able to gain experience working in an inpatient hospital setting as well as outpatient clinic setting. Aside from learning clinical skills and therapies, students will be able to learn and obtain experience in advanced case management and hospital social work skills. Weekly individual supervision will be provided and MSW interns will have the opportunity attend an additional supervision group with other current MSW interns within Children's Minnesota. MSW interns will also have the opportunity to shadow other therapists and social workers in other departments within Children's Minnesota based on their interests.

Requirements

  • Must be in a Masters-level social work program.
  • Must be completing their clinical (advanced) practicum.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and utilize evidence-based psychotherapies for the treatment of eating disorders, including family-based treatment (The Maudsley Method), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Enhanced for Eating Disorder, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for mood and anxiety disorders.
  • Gain experience working in an inpatient hospital setting and an outpatient clinic setting.
  • Learn and obtain experience in advanced case management and hospital social work skills.
  • Participate in weekly individual supervision.
  • Attend a supervision group with other current MSW interns.
  • Shadow other therapists and social workers in other departments within Children's Minnesota based on interests.
