About The Position

InStyle is seeking a high-volume Social Video Editor/Producer to create content for its social platforms. The role involves switching between quick-turn social clips and narrative-driven short-form series. The editor is expected to work independently, bring creative vision to raw assets, and produce content with a demonstrable track record of social success.

This is an agency worker opportunity with People Inc.; the worker is paid by a staffing agency and receives a W-2 from that agency. The assignment is scheduled for November 9 through March 31, with potential for extension. It requires 40 hours per week on a hybrid schedule, with three days in the People Inc. NYC office at 225 Liberty Street. The hourly rate is $45.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience editing social-first video content.
• A portfolio demonstrating high engagement and views.
• Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, with speed, organization, and technical efficiency in the timeline.
• Strong editorial judgment and the ability to identify relatable, authentic moments in raw footage and build a narrative around them.
• Proficiency in basic motion graphics, text overlays, and sound design.
• Experience in a digital media or agency environment delivering high-quality work on tight turnarounds.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction and manage multiple competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Edit both rapid-response social trending clips and long-lead narrative storytelling projects.
• Add editorial value through pacing, music selection, and visual hooks that make fashion and beauty feel accessible and conversational.
• Take projects from raw ingest to final delivery with minimal direction, interpreting briefs and delivering cuts that meet expectations.
• Manage multiple competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment where schedules may shift based on the news cycle and celebrity events.
• Prioritize real, human moments and sharp commentary in edits.
• Deliver polished exports optimized for 9:16, 4:5, and 1:1 ratios, with appropriate framing and text placement for each platform.
