About The Position

ACES Chase Academy, a Magnet Schools of America national school of excellence, is seeking a dedicated and passionate part-time (0.4) high school Social Studies Teacher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering academic growth and social development in high school students.

Requirements

  • Valid Connecticut 026 History & Social Studies, 4–12 certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in education, social studies, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of social studies content, curriculum development, and instructional strategies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement a comprehensive social studies curriculum aligned with state standards and school objectives. A project-based learning curricular approach is utilized at the school.
  • Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that promote critical thinking, historical inquiry, and active participation. Differentiate instruction to accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
  • Design and administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning. Set clear expectations for behavior and classroom routines. Leverage restorative practices, where appropriate.
  • Foster open communication with families through regular updates, conferences, and involvement in school events. Engage with the local community to enhance the social studies program.
  • Stay current with educational trends, research, and best practices in social studies education. Attend professional development opportunities to continually improve teaching skills.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, department members, and administrators to align curriculum, share resources, and maintain a positive school culture.
