About The Position

Williamsburg Charter High School is seeking a NYS Certified Social Studies Teacher to join their team. The school's mission is to provide young people with the tools necessary to make sense of the world and prepare them for their journey to become skilled workers and literate citizens. This is achieved through a rigorous liberal arts education that includes language, literature, writing, science, history, mathematics, the arts, technology, and explorations designed to teach fairness, justice, respect, compassion, critical thinking, communication, and research skills. Williamsburg Charter High School (WCHS) is a high-performing public charter high school in Brooklyn, New York, serving approximately 1,000 students in grades nine through twelve. The educational program aims to ensure every student graduates well-prepared for college and the world beyond, fostering intellectual, social, and moral growth within a community that upholds high expectations. WCHS is looking for exceptional teachers who believe all students can learn and are college/career ready, who can coach young people to become independent learners, thinkers, and researchers, increase student engagement through collaborative learning, use data and assessments to inform instruction, value collaboration, and share a collegial spirit. Requirements

  • NYS Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field
  • 2+ years of lead classroom teacher experience (excludes student teaching and serving as a teaching assistant/substitute)
  • Experience with planning and/or teaching high school curriculum aligned with Common Core standards and driven by data

Responsibilities
