About The Position

The Social Services Specialist will maintain a trauma-informed, client-centered approach while working with clients. This role involves conducting needs-based assessments and developing service plans, managing a caseload through case management, and maintaining active communication with clients via various channels. The specialist will provide guidance, educational information, and connect clients to appropriate in-house and external referrals. A key part of the role includes researching and maintaining an updated guide of Houston-area providers and services, fostering relationships with existing partners, and developing new ones. The position also requires participation in educational outreach, coalition meetings, stakeholder meetings, and working groups. Additionally, the specialist will support psychoeducation courses for survivors of violence, collaborate with social work interns on donation drives and projects, and assist the legal team with interventions and advocacy under the guidance of the lead social worker. The role also includes promoting self-care practices for the team and supporting administrative duties such as data management, hotline shifts, and mail.

Requirements

  • Bilingual; Advanced written and verbal fluency in Spanish required.
  • BSW or equivalent degree, i.e. Psychology, Sociology, Social Sciences, etc.
  • 2-4 years of case management or social services experience.
  • Committed to supporting vulnerable populations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a variety of needs-based assessments and service plans while maintaining a caseload through case management.
  • Maintain active communication with clients through texts, calls, emails, and virtual or in-person meetings.
  • Provide guidance, educational information, and connect to both in-house and outside referrals to ensure that individuals receive the appropriate services needed.
  • Researching and maintaining an updated guide of providers & services in the Houston area available to clients.
  • Maintain relationships with existing partners and develop new partnerships with other organizations.
  • Participate in educational outreach opportunities to promote program services, and other activities, including coalition meetings, stakeholder meetings & participating in working groups.
  • Support in Psychoeducation courses led by partner for survivors of violence.
  • Collaborate with social work interns to implement donation drive efforts and in other projects.
  • Support legal team in navigating complex cases through interventions and advocacy with guidance of lead social worker.
  • Research tools and promote self-care practices for team with guidance of lead social worker.
  • Support program in other administrative duties such as data management, hotline shifts, mail, and other tasks director by supervisor as needed.
  • Participate in Agency wide, and program events as needed.
