A diverse range of programs and services are accessible through local offices across Alberta to anyone who needs help. Our Family Development Program located in Rocky Mountain House is seeking a: Full-Time Temporary Family Development Worker. The Family Development Program provides caring and professional family support to help develop positive family relationships by teaching parenting, living, communication and behavior management skills. This program helps children, youth and parents struggling with a variety of issues. Clients are referred to this program from their local Children Services office.

Requirements

  • Diploma at minimum, preferred degree directly related to Human Services
  • Required 1 year of frontline human services experience, preferred 3 years of human services work related to working with families
  • Proof of Membership in Professional Association (when applicable)
  • Knowledge of parent/child relationships and family dynamics
  • Basic First Aid Level C with Adult, Child, and infant CPR &AED
  • Suicide Intervention Training & De-Escalation Training
  • Intervention Record Check & Criminal Record Check with the vulnerable sector
  • Class 5 driver’s license, clean drivers abstract and reliable vehicle for client transportation
  • Knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience within the Signs of Safety framework would be an asset
  • Preferred experience in the CS System
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Culture considered an asset

  • Supervise Visits between children and biological family
  • Youth Work and Engagement including connection with Natural Supports
  • Connect Families with community supports, including family advocacy and support
  • Support Cultural Engagement and Learning
  • Family Assessment and Intervention
  • Coaching/mentoring parents
  • Life skills training
  • Facilitating Case Conferences and Family Support Network Meetings
