About The Position

The Salvation Army Northern Division Minneapolis Central’s Social Services Coordinator provides direct assistance to program participants. The Coordinator also recruits and provides a full range of case management services to Pathway of Hope (POH) participants. POH is responsible for providing targeted services to participants with a desire to break the cycle of crisis and enable a path out of intergenerational poverty.

Requirements

  • Previous social services experience required.
  • Must pass background checks.
  • Must be able communicate clearly in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in relevant field preferred. In lieu of degree, a combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • If degree is in social work, must be licensed by state board.
  • Valid driver’s license and meet MVR requirements preferred.
  • May occasionally drive agency vehicle locally to support the mission if MVR check cleared.
  • May be required to use public transportation to support the mission if unable to drive on behalf of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

  • Provide participants with direct assistance (e.g., foodshelf, Heatshare, vouchers).
  • Conduct long-term strength-based, person-centered, holistic case management to POH participants.
  • Maintain up-to-date, accurate participant information in casefiles and through database entry.
  • Facilitate individual and group educational activities.
  • Assist with seasonal and special events.
  • Recruit qualifying participants for POH and promote social services and corps programs with participants and throughout the community.
  • Engage in internal activities to promote and further POH goals and objectives.
