The Department of Human Services (DHS) Social Services Coordinator is responsible for coordinating departmental operations within a county facility. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.The Social Services Coordinator manages and coordinates social service programs, ensuring that clients receive necessary resources and support. This role involves case management oversight, policy implementation, and interagency coordination to enhance service accessibility for Arkansas residents.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of work experience in human services programs or public service.
  • Required to have a background check and child/adult maltreatment registry check.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple cases and projects
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities
  • Case management and service coordination
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
  • Knowledge of Arkansas social service laws, policies, and regulations
  • Intermediate in data management, reporting, and documentation
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care and cultural competency
  • Understanding of behavioral health and protective services
  • The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, business, public administration, or a related field; plus three years of experience in social or community service work, including two years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Develop partnerships with community resources and service providers.
  • Monitor program effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Provide training and support to frontline social workers.
