The Private Counsel Division (PCD) of the Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS) is seeking a full-time Social Services Advocate (SSA) to join the Private Social Work Services Unit. This statewide position will support clients within the Innocence Program, Parole Unit, Alternative Commitment and Registration Support Unit (ACRSU), and the Post-Conviction Unit. The role involves providing direct client support and advocacy, developing resources, and offering consultation and training to defense attorneys. The agency is committed to equal justice and human dignity, advocating for the rights of individuals and promoting just public policy. CPCS is the agency responsible for providing legal representation to individuals who cannot afford an attorney in various legal matters. The agency serves a diverse client base and emphasizes cultural competence among its staff. The SSA will work to ensure clients achieve favorable legal and life outcomes, requiring flexibility, problem-solving skills, organizational abilities, good judgment, attention to detail, and a trauma-informed, person-centered approach. The position requires the ability to enter correctional facilities and adhere to attorney-client confidentiality rules. The SSA will report to the Director of Private Social Work Services, with additional direction from the Directors of the Post-Conviction, Parole, ACRSU, and Innocence Program units.
