About The Position

Alliance College-Ready Public Schools is seeking a Social Science Teacher for Kory Hunter Middle School for the 2026-27 school year. Alliance operates 25 high-performing middle and high schools in Los Angeles, serving nearly 13,000 scholars from Latinx, Black, and recent immigrant communities. The school network is committed to providing equitable access to rigorous instruction and support for all scholars, ensuring they reach their full potential. Alliance teachers work in a supportive and collaborative environment focused on scholar success and educator growth. The role involves providing excellent college-preparatory instruction, developing a positive and achievement-oriented classroom culture, executing curriculum to meet diverse learner needs, and engaging in data-driven instruction. Teachers will also partner with families and community organizations and participate in ongoing professional development.

Requirements

A California teaching credential in the assigned subject area(s) and a valid English Learner Authorization are required.
California Single Subject Credential in Social Science (Clear or Preliminary).
California University or District Intern Credential in Social Science.
Equivalent Out-of-State Credential transferring to California.
For Middle School only: California Multiple Subject or Single Subject Credential with an Introductory Supplementary Authorization in Social Science.
Bachelor’s Degree (required for evaluation for emergency teaching permit if no credential is held).
Applicants without a current credential or a verifiable pathway toward obtaining a California teaching credential will not be considered.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a positive, achievement-oriented, supportive, and collaborative culture of high expectations that motivates and inspires scholars to learn at college-preparatory levels.
Effectively execute assigned curriculum and just-in-time supports to reach every scholar, regardless of prior academic background, disability, or English language fluency.
Engage in internalizing assigned curriculum, tied to specific grade level and content standards, in teacher teams and individually to prepare daily lesson plans, instructional materials, and exit tickets aligned to rigorous college-ready standards.
Use exit tickets, unit tests, interim exams, and other assessment data to determine differentiated re-teaching needed to advance all scholars toward demonstrating mastery.
Collaborate with peers to ensure that all scholars receive the appropriate support, including the accommodations they need to successfully access grade-level content.
Provide all scholars opportunities aligned with the Alliance’s College-Ready Graduate Profile.
Create a coherent and supportive classroom culture to support scholar engagement, learning, and well-being.
Support Alliance’s aspiration to prepare all scholars for college, with 75% or more completing a four-year college degree.
Seek opportunities, both individually and through school-based initiatives, to build strong and collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, families, scholars, and alumni.
