About The Position

The Social Science/Humanities Research Associate I position is a fixed-term, 1-year role funded by the National Cancer Institute. The successful candidate will be trained in clinical assessments and gain experience in general research administration, including the preparation of publications and conference presentations. This role involves coordinating recruitment for a clinical trial focused on an aerobic exercise intervention for smoking cessation in adults with high anxiety sensitivity. The position is supervised by Dr. Jasper Smits and is located at the UT MAIN CAMPUS.

Requirements

  • A minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or a related field and prior research experience (including experience as a student) though relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple tasks and working both independently as well as with a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior research experience in a psychology lab.
  • Speaks English and Spanish.
  • Experience with the data management and use of software programs for statistical analysis such as REDCap and R-Studio.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating recruitment efforts for an ongoing clinical trial that examines a community based aerobic exercise intervention for smoking cessation in adults with high anxiety sensitivity.
  • Organizing and overseeing data collection and study protocols, including management, cleaning, and preparation of data collected via online survey platforms (REDCap, R-Studio, Qualtrics).
  • Interfacing with research and clinical staff to maintain effective communication regarding participant scheduling, data management, and quality control.
  • Conducting clinical interviews and preparing assessments.
  • Maintaining and revising IRB protocols and assisting with research compliance reports and procedures.
  • Supervision of undergraduate students conducting data entry and other tasks.
