The City of Waco seeks a Social Resource Coordinator who has the capacity to coordinate services between the Waco Police Department (WPD), the community, and other social resource entities to allow access to social service resources and assist community members in addressing critical mental and behavioral health concerns. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, enjoys working with the public, and can maintain strict confidentiality. The Social Resource Coordinator (SRC) will provide behavioral health assessment and follow-up on calls for service to include resource linkage for high-acuity behavioral health issues, chronic homelessness, substance abuse, advocacy, referrals, and related social services in coordination with Police personnel encountering citizens/residents in City of Waco communities for the Waco Police Department. The SRC will assist the Social Resource Program Supervisor as needed in reducing the number of calls for service, repeat Emergency Detention Orders, and interactions with Law Enforcement Officers. Funding for this position is currently authorized for a two-year term. Continuation of the position beyond that period will be evaluated based on available funding.
