About The Position

Massanutten Resort is seeking a Social Media Specialist to be the day-to-day voice of the resort across social media. This role involves creating engaging content (photos and videos) to inspire visits and shares, capturing content on the property, and shaping the resort's online presence. It's a hands-on opportunity for an early-career marketer to gain ownership of channels reaching a large audience. The specialist will collaborate with the marketing team, PR partners, local businesses, and internal departments to tell stories, support events, host influencers, and maintain a fresh digital presence. This position is ideal for someone creative, who enjoys being a content creator, storyteller, trend watcher, and community builder, offering growth in social media, content creation, influencer marketing, and destination marketing.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years managing social media for a brand, agency, or established creator account
  • Fluency in Canva, including building and working from brand templates
  • Proficiency in Meta Business Suite and a third-party scheduling and management platform (Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Later, or similar)
  • Strong native editing skills in Instagram and TikTok, plus CapCut
  • Ability to capture quality photos and videos on a phone across a range of settings and conditions
  • Comfort reading platform and native analytics, and translating them into clear, accurate reporting
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage a content calendar, shoot schedule, and event coverage
  • Current, working knowledge of platform trends, formats, and best practices
  • Availability to work on the property, including evenings, weekends, and holidays around events and peak periods

Nice To Haves

  • On-camera comfort or willingness to appear in content
  • Experience working with influencers or sourcing and repurposing user-generated content
  • Experience maintaining third-party listing and review platforms (Google Business Profile, Yelp, TripAdvisor)
  • Hospitality, tourism, or destination marketing background

Responsibilities

  • Own the content calendar and posting cadence across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and emerging channels, adapting each piece of content to the platform it lives on.
  • Capture and edit photo and video on property and develop fresh, on-brand content using native tools and Canva templates.
  • Manage daily engagement and build relationships with local businesses and partners to grow an authentic community.
  • Support the PR partner in coordinating, scheduling, and hosting influencer and media visits, and leveraging the resulting content.
  • Maintain accuracy across third-party profiles and monitor reviews.
  • Track, analyze, and report on performance against established benchmarks.
  • Provide light website and app content edits as needed.
