Social Media Manager

Lava IslandDenver, CO
Hybrid

About The Position

The Social Media Manager is a creative and community-minded storyteller who owns the day-to-day presence of Lava Island across all social platforms — including building out our YouTube channel from the ground up. This role goes beyond publishing and scheduling: you'll propose bold strategies, push creative boundaries, and actively cultivate relationships with the local community to strengthen Lava Island's reputation and relevance. Working within the creative vision set by the Senior Creative Director, you'll bring ideas to the table, execute with excellence, and help make Lava Island a brand people genuinely love.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on social media management for a consumer-facing brand, with demonstrated channel growth.
  • Proven ability to develop social strategies and pitch ideas — not just execute them.
  • Deep platform fluency across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube, including native tools and analytics.
  • Strong copywriting skills with the ability to adapt tone across platforms while staying on-brand.
  • Comfortable working within a defined creative system.
  • Experience engaging with local communities, organizations, or grassroots audiences in a brand context.
  • Proficiency with video editing tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Rush, or similar.
  • Proficiency with social scheduling and analytics tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in entertainment, hospitality, or family/youth-oriented brands.
  • Background in training, onboarding, or creating how-to resources for non-creative teams.
  • Familiarity with influencer relationship management tools and workflows.
  • Experience supporting paid social campaigns as a community manager.
  • Existing relationships with local media, community organizations, or content creators in the markets.
  • Experience building or growing a YouTube presence (channel strategy, video formats, SEO, thumbnails).

Responsibilities

  • Propose channel-level strategies, content formats, and campaign concepts to the Senior Creative Director for review and approval.
  • Identify opportunities to push creative boundaries — new formats, emerging platforms, unexpected partnerships — and build the case for trying them.
  • Develop platform-specific content strategies that align with Lava Island's brand goals and repeat visitor objectives.
  • Stay ahead of social trends, algorithm changes, and competitor activity, translating insights into actionable pitches.
  • Collaborate with the SCD to execute approved strategies with precision and creativity.
  • Own the content calendar, scheduling, and on-time publishing across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube.
  • Lead the buildout and growth strategy for Lava Island's YouTube channel — proposing content formats, series concepts, and a publishing cadence for SCD approval.
  • Adapt and optimize approved creative assets for each platform's specifications and audience behavior.
  • Write platform-native captions, hooks, and CTAs that reflect Lava Island's brand voice.
  • Maintain a consistent posting cadence across all channels, including during operational peaks and events.
  • Monitor and respond to comments, DMs, and mentions across all channels — promptly and on-brand.
  • Proactively engage with user-generated content, resharing guest experiences with appropriate permissions.
  • Identify and elevate loyal followers and brand advocates, building genuine relationships over time.
  • Identify and propose local partnerships, sponsorships, and community events that can strengthen Lava Island's neighborhood presence.
  • Propose ways to integrate community stories and voices into Lava Island's social content to improve authenticity and local relevance.
  • Develop simple, repeatable guidelines and quick-reference resources that empower park teams to contribute social-ready content without sacrificing brand quality.
  • Track and report channel-level performance metrics (reach, engagement rate, follower growth, saves, shares, video views) weekly and monthly.
  • Translate data into clear insights and strategic recommendations for the SCD.
  • Test formats, posting times, and caption styles — document results and apply learnings to future content.
  • Coordinate with operations and guest experience teams to capture real-time social moments, including events and openings.
  • Support influencer and partnership logistics (scheduling, briefing, content delivery).
  • Assist with social-specific elements of paid media campaigns as directed.
  • Source, organize, and tag UGC and influencer content for the brand asset library.
