About The Position

The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders are looking for a Social Media Intern to support the RoughRiders staff. This position provides hands-on, all-access experience with exposure to what goes into creating content for live sporting events and digital platforms. This role combines content creation, organization, editing, and creativity to ensure efficient content delivery and a well-maintained brand identity across a professional hockey team’s media outlets.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing or holding a degree in Marketing, Communications, Sports Management, or a related field
• Availability to attend home games and work scheduled weekday office hours throughout the season
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Energetic, reliable, and able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Strong organizational skills & attention to detail
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, live-game environment, including walking on an ice surface
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 10–15 pounds
• This is an unpaid internship intended for students seeking academic credit and/or looking to build their resumes and gain experience in the sports industry

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or other content creation software is preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist with managing home game-day social media content
• Assist in creating graphics and templates
• Assist in creating content for all social media platforms, with an emphasis on TikTok
• Assist in creating weekend recap videos, website content, and written recaps
• Develop unique content ideas
• Work scheduled office hours during the week to assist with content creation, content planning, and other departmental projects
• Other duties as assigned
