About The Position

The New Orleans Film Society (NOFS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting, nurturing, and amplifying the diverse voices of filmmakers. We aim to facilitate conversations through film and film-related programming that inspire, educate, challenge, and entertain our audiences. The Festival Social Media Coordinator is responsible for executing the New Orleans Film Festival’s social media strategy before, during, and immediately following the Festival. Working under the direct supervision of the Development Manager, this individual creates engaging content, coordinates the Festival’s social media presence across all approved platforms, provides real-time coverage of Festival events, and helps extend the Festival experience beyond the walls of our venues. The Festival Social Media Coordinator helps translate the energy, artistry, and community of NOFF into a compelling digital experience that expands the Festival’s reach, strengthens its reputation, celebrates filmmakers and partners, and invites new audiences into the NOFS community. This position is an important member of the Festival’s communications team. Creativity, initiative, and thoughtful ideas are encouraged. Strategic direction, messaging priorities, project assignments, and final approvals are provided by the Development Manager. The successful candidate will communicate proactively, exercise sound editorial judgment, adapt to changing priorities, receive feedback professionally, and consistently produce high-quality work that supports the organization’s goals.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated alignment with the mission and values of the New Orleans Film Society.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Two to three years of professional experience managing organizational social media.
  • Proven experience creating engaging social media campaigns and digital content.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills.
  • Experience producing short-form video and photo content.
  • Proficiency with Canva, Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, Meta Business Suite, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, Dropbox, and Google Workspace.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable transportation throughout Greater New Orleans.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends during Festival events.
  • Personal laptop and smartphone capable of professional content creation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with film festivals, arts organizations, nonprofit organizations, or cultural institutions.
  • Knowledge of independent film and the contemporary film industry.
  • Experience covering live events through social media.
  • Photography experience.
  • Familiarity with Airtable and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the Festival’s approved social media strategy across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, and other approved platforms.
  • Maintain and implement the Festival’s social media calendar.
  • Create engaging photography, short-form video, Reels, Stories, graphics, and written content.
  • Write compelling, accurate, and engaging captions that reflect the voice and brand of NOFS.
  • Produce content that supports Festival programming, filmmaker promotion, ticket sales, memberships, sponsorships, and audience engagement.
  • Attend assigned screenings, filmmaker conversations, receptions, educational programs, parties, red carpets, and special events.
  • Capture and publish timely content throughout Festival events.
  • Coordinate with photographers and videographers to receive, organize, edit, and publish content quickly.
  • Identify memorable moments that help audiences experience the Festival in real time.
  • Monitor comments, direct messages, and audience engagement across all social media platforms.
  • Coordinate social media collaborations with filmmakers, sponsors, community partners, venues, artists, and participating organizations, including shared posts, collaborator tags, cross-platform promotion, and coordinated digital campaigns.
  • Ensure sponsors, donors, members, grantors, and organizational partners receive accurate and timely social media recognition in accordance with organizational commitments.
  • Escalate sensitive communications or media inquiries to the Development Manager when appropriate.
  • Monitor campaign performance and audience engagement throughout the Festival.
  • Maintain organized archives of photography, video, graphics, and project files.
  • Deliver a post-Festival analytics report summarizing campaign performance, audience engagement, lessons learned, and recommendations for future Festivals.
  • Transfer organized digital assets and project files to NOFS at the conclusion of the contract.
