About The Position

The SC Department of Veterans’ Affairs is seeking a hardworking and dependable candidate to apply and become their next Social Media Coordinator. This role involves developing and executing social media strategies, creating engaging content, monitoring social media channels, and collaborating with internal teams to promote Veteran programs and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive social media strategies aligned with SCDVA's communication goals and objectives.
  • Evaluate and maintain all official SCDVA social media accounts (e.g. Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Flickr) ensuring consistent branding and messaging.
  • Create, curate, and schedule engaging content, including text, images, videos, and infographics, tailored for each platform.
  • Monitor social media trends, tools, and applications and recommend new strategies and platforms as appropriate.
  • Write compelling and accurate copy for social media posts, ensuring adherence to SCDVA's brand voice and style guide.
  • Collaborate with internal divisions to gather information and develop content that highlights Veteran programs, benefits, events, and success stories.
  • Utilize graphic design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) to create visually appealing social media assets.
  • Coordinate with Multimedia Manager and Multimedia Coordinator on video production and photography for social media use.
  • Actively monitor social media channels for comments, messages, and mentions, responding promptly and professionally.
  • Engage with followers to build a strong online community and foster positive interactions.
  • Identify and escalate sensitive inquiries or public relations issues to Public Information Director.
  • Track and generate reporting on social media performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns, and inform future content strategies.
  • Work closely with the Public Information Director and other SCDVA staff to ensure integrated communication efforts.
  • Provide social media support for special events, campaigns, and announcements.
  • Stay informed on Veterans' affairs news, policies, and relevant state and federal initiatives for promotion.
  • Other duties as assigned.
