Newsweek reaches 100 million people each month with thought-provoking news, opinion, images, graphics, and video delivered across a dozen print and digital platforms. Headquartered in New York City, Newsweek also publishes international editions in EMEA and Asia. Newsweek is seeking a Part-Time Social Media Coordinator to join our team and support weekend coverage. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced digital environment and is passionate about engaging audiences across platforms. The coordinator will work Saturdays and Sundays, 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM ET (10 hours per day), ensuring Newsweek’s social presence remains active, timely, and aligned with editorial priorities.

Requirements

  • Prior experience managing social media accounts for a brand, publication, or organization.
  • Strong understanding of social platforms, trends, and best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and make quick editorial judgments.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Weekend availability is required.
  • While this is a remote position, the candidate must be US-based

Responsibilities

  • Content Scheduling & Publishing: Post and manage content across Newsweek’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, Bluesky, Threads, WhatsApp, Reddit and LinkedIn).
  • Audience Engagement: Monitor comments and trends; respond appropriately to foster community interaction.
  • Real-Time Coverage: Collaborate with editors to amplify breaking news and trending stories during weekend hours.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Track performance of weekend content and provide insights to the social media team.
  • Brand Consistency: Ensure all posts reflect Newsweek’s voice, editorial standards, and visual identity.
  • Collaboration: Communicate with editorial and digital teams to align social strategy with newsroom priorities.
