About The Position

Northwestern Health Sciences University is seeking a creative Social Media Coordinator Intern to join the marketing team this summer through October. In this role, the intern will collaborate closely with the Assistant Director of Brand & Content Management to help plan, create, and manage engaging content for Facebook and Instagram. The intern will gain valuable real-world experience developing social media strategies, capturing photo and video content, writing compelling posts, and connecting with online audiences in meaningful ways. This hands-on opportunity is ideal for a student looking to strengthen their communication and creative skills while building a professional portfolio and gain practical knowledge they can carry into future careers. This is a part time, non-benefits eligible position, working up to 19 hours per week. Work Location: Bloomington, MN with flexibility to work 3+ days per week remotely; must live local and be able to come to campus as needed.

Requirements

  • Current college student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.
  • Basic video editing skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable being on camera.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Canva or similar design tools preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design social media graphics using Canva.
  • Capture and create engaging video and photography content with clear, engaging, on-brand social media captions.
  • Regularly report performance metrics of posts and ads.
  • Schedule and publish posts across platforms.
  • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and engagement.
  • Collaborate with supervisor to plan and execute a monthly content calendar.
  • Ensure all content aligns with NWHSU brand guidelines and approval processes.
