Social Media and Video Content Producer
About The Position
Mendocino Railway is seeking outgoing individuals with a passion for fun and hard work to join their team as a Social Media and Video Content Producer. This role will be responsible for capturing trains in action and showcasing unique trips and tour experiences. The producer will shoot, edit, and create content to drive social media engagement, focusing on platforms like TikTok and YouTube, while also supporting Meta content with Reels. This is a part-time position, working three days per week (Wednesday-Friday) plus one weekend day, with frequent travel required between West Sacramento and Mendocino County (Fort Bragg and Willits, CA).
Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- 2+ years of experience in digital marketing or digital content editing, and photography and videography.
- Tech savvy with experience using a PC gaming laptop for editorial needs.
- Currently have a 4k-capable DSLR camera and an iPhone or Android device capable of capturing high-quality content.
- Reliable personal transportation to drive to shoot locations; valid driver’s license required.
- Pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check required prior to hiring.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
- Ability to effectively communicate and work with employees, contractors, regulatory representatives, public officials, and members of the public.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PPT, and Teams.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and demeanor.
- Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in digital content, digital marketing, or similar a plus.
- Previous drone operator certification a plus.
Responsibilities
- Manage and execute content for video-forward social media platforms, specifically TikTok and YouTube, while supporting Meta content with Reels.
- Partner closely with Mendocino Railway’s Marketing and PR team members to concept and execute social media video content ranging from short-form, long-form informational, and occasional advertising content for cable, CTV, OTA.
- Produce content that is safe and effective for our brands, requiring an ability to understand brand guidelines and requirements for each brand.
- Recommend content that is appropriate for each brand and helps drive more awareness and engagement with audiences.
- Capture raw footage and produce several finished videos per month; post Stories in real-time, and execute recap videos same-day, as appropriate.
- Spend at least one weekend per month shooting Skunk Train content (Fort Bragg and Willits) and at least one weekend per month shooting River Fox Train content (West Sacramento).
- Collaborate effectively and as needed with each brand’s General Management and operations teams to avoid disrupting guest service or day-to-day operations.
- Support photo shoots, sponsored community events, or other special Marketing team activities as needed.
- Communicate effectively with guests, crew members and supervisors.
- Ensure safety at all times.
- Travel to company locations and project sites as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
