Social and Digital Media Intern

About The Position

The Social and Digital Media Intern will assist the Social and Digital Media Coordinator with marketing and promotional efforts and increase the online presence of Iowa Western and Reiver Athletics through content creation, photography, videography, graphic content creation, and supporting social media efforts across academic and athletic areas.

Requirements

  • Current Iowa Western Community College student.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and X.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a fast-paced, customer-oriented team.
  • Professional in communications, appearance, relationships and responsiveness.
  • Positive attitude and adaptability.
  • Creative, dependable and willing to learn new skills.
  • Ability to work independently while taking direction from the Social and Digital Media Coordinator.
  • Regular, prompt and reliable attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • Pursuing coursework in marketing, communications, journalism, digital media, photography, graphic design, sports media or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with photography, videography, social media or content creation preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe products, including Photoshop, Premiere Pro or other Adobe Creative Cloud applications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate IWCC’s core mission, vision and values.
  • Assist with the creation of social and digital media content, including photos, videos, graphics and written messaging.
  • Capture photo and video content at Iowa Western academic, athletic and campus events.
  • Assist with coverage of athletic games, practices and other Reiver Athletics activities.
  • Assist with coverage of academic programs, student activities, events and other areas across campus.
  • Edit photos and video for use across social media and other digital platforms.
  • Assist with creating graphics and other visual content for social media.
  • Help maintain and organize photo, video and other digital media files.
  • Assist with gathering information and content for social media posts.
  • Collaborate with the Social and Digital Media Coordinator, Social and Digital Media Manager, Sports Information Director and other departments on content creation and event coverage.
  • Attend events, including occasional nights and weekends, as needed for content coverage.
  • Update job knowledge through educational and professional development opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
