About The Position

Avenues Athletics Department, part of Avenues: The World School, is seeking committed coaches to develop, plan, and implement its growing sports curriculum. The department prides itself on creating programs within each sport discipline where Middle and Upper School coaches collaborate to ensure the necessary skills are covered and the needs of student-athletes are met. The role of an Avenues coach involves instructing student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training for individual and team success, while also fostering integrity, pride, sportsmanship, self-discipline, goal setting, teamwork, and self-confidence.

Requirements

Head coaches have 3+ years of soccer head coach coaching experience
Assistant coaches have 1+ years of soccer coaching or related experience
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work well with student athletes, parents, faculty/staff and the athletics department
Current First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to get training before the season commences
Are up to date with COVID vaccinations and boosters
Knowledge of the rules and regulations of the sport, with special consideration given to those having experience with the desired age category
Enthusiasm, commitment, patience, and a passion for teaching the game are essential
Ability to motivate and provide positive leadership to our student athletes by following our school and athletic mission
Must be eligible to work in the United States
Must be living in New York or surrounding area during the season

Responsibilities

Breakdown and teach the fundamental skills for players at all levels (Head Coach)
Attend all scheduled games and practices (Head and Assistant Coach)
Manage and coordinate practice and game plans (Head Coach)
Be responsible for handling all administrative duties related to their team (Head Coach)
Attend all necessary athletic and school meetings and events (Head and Assistant Coach)
Support head coach in promoting the mission of the program (Assistant Coach)
Contribute to and/or run practice sessions (Assistant Coach)
Gather and record statistical information (Assistant Coach)
