About The Position

Academy Camps is seeking an experienced Soccer Coach for its 2026 summer season. This overnight sports camp, located at Suffield Academy (CT), offers intensive training sessions for boys and girls aged 10-15 in various sports, including soccer. The camp focuses on improving athletes' physical, mental, and emotional skills, alongside fostering confidence, growth mindset, and teamwork. Coaches also serve as Dorm Counselors, overseeing campers and participating in camp activities.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of competitive playing experience (required)
  • Experience working with youth in sports or educational programs (required)
  • An excellent relationship builder - quick to connect, build trust, and rapport
  • A goal-oriented coach - motivated to help our athletes achieve their goals
  • A creative problem-solver - with an empathetic approach to customer service, team management, and ability to ask for help when needed
  • A growth mindset - an orientation towards learning and development; willing to receive and implement feedback and learn from mistakes
  • Available and on-site for the dates of the full summer session including staff pre-season training and post-camp: June 22 - August 8

Nice To Haves

  • Competing at the collegiate level (preferred)
  • Desire to develop and improve as a coach (required), experience coaching (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Implement coaching strategies to improve athletes' physical, mental, and emotional skills.
  • Mentor camper athletes to foster athletic, emotional, and social growth.
  • Apply basic youth development principles in working with campers and staff.
  • Live in a dorm with other coaches and manage the dorm effectively with co-counselors.
  • Ensure a quality camp experience for every camper by getting to know them and responding to their individual needs.
  • Encourage, support, and set limits for campers to support their physical and emotional health.
  • Teach campers to develop good self-care and independent living skills.
  • Act as a role model, maintain dorm cleanliness, and be safety conscious.
  • Assist in planning and supervising evening programs, special events, and other all-camp activities.
  • Actively participate in all staff training and meetings.
  • Prepare for, accept feedback, and constructively problem-solve during supervision sessions.
