About The Position

Qualcomm's Chip Architecture multi-site team of systems engineers, hardware and software architects are driving analysis and defining next-generation architectures for our system-on-chip (SoC) products for mobile, automotive, Compute and other product categories. We have an exciting and dynamic technical position available with a focus on SoC performance analysis. The successful candidate will engage collaboratively across the company to work with architects and engineers in core HW design & verification, SW, marketing, and product planning teams, to engineer market-leading SoC products with best-in-class performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 1+ years System Engineering or related work experience
  • MS or PhD degree
  • 1+ years Systems Engineering or related work experience
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Industry experience required in one or more of the following areas: Computer Architecture concepts, such as CPU, GPU, DSP, interconnects, shared memory, etc.
  • System or chipset development for SoC products, preferably in the mobile market
  • OS principles and HW/SW interaction
  • SoC bus, interconnect, memory technologies, memory controllers, scheduling, MMUs
  • Hands-on experience in using and modifying simulators and performance/power models, especially full-system models
  • SystemC and event driven simulators
  • Using code and/or system profiling tools
  • C/C++ programming
  • VLSI design and verification
  • Pragmatic scripting & automation skills
  • Familiarity with ARM, Linux
  • Familiarity with multimedia or communication technologies including audio codec, video codec, camera, WLAN, LTE and 5G

Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct performance and systems studies
  • Conduct or contribute to analysis to define our SOC architecture plans simultaneously taking into account performance, power and thermal
  • Collaborate with HW and SW teams to define best-in-class multimedia, modem, compute and memory technologies
  • Define complex use cases including new workloads (Gaming, AI) and infer systems requirements
  • Deploy simulators, profilers, or hardware to understand performance bottlenecks and provide quantitative justification for architectural changes or tuning
  • Directly apply computer architecture knowledge of CPUs, GPUs, DSPs, cache coherency, virtual memory, etc.
  • Effectively communicate and experimental results with technical leads and peers
  • Creatively overcome obstacles to obtain the answers to architectural questions
  • Invent and file patents on technical solutions to relevant problems
