About The Position

The role involves analyzing network activity to identify and address security threats. You will be responsible for determining the significance of network anomalies and alerts, configuring security controls based on Zero Trust principles, and resolving security issues within routing and networks. The position requires hands-on work with various network protocols and thorough documentation of your activities to ensure seamless handover to colleagues. This role is on-site in Plano, TX, and is part of the global Security Operations Center (GSOC) team. The company utilizes AI in its services, including AI-assisted case handling within its MDR Detect™ offering, and builds its own AI infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Ability to thoroughly understand issues and admit when knowledge is lacking.
  • Ownership of customer requests until resolution.
  • Understanding of organizational dynamics beyond just the network.
  • Ability to explain insights clearly and respectfully.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a SOC, NOC, or similar security-operations role.
  • Networking knowledge including routers, switches, and firewalls (CCNA level or equivalent).
  • Understanding of concepts like network segmentation, VPN, NAT, DNS, and certificates.
  • Security thinking including least privilege, defense in depth, and attack progression.
  • Experience with Windows, macOS, and Linux systems.
  • Familiarity with common protocols (SSH, SSL, HTTPS, SMTP, DHCP) and the ability to learn others.
  • Possession of a relevant certification (e.g., CCNA, Security+) or active pursuit of one.
  • Daily use of AI and ability to explain its application.
  • Proficiency in prompt engineering (context and structure).
  • Ability to identify and automate repetitive tasks.
  • Respect for confidentiality regarding customer data.
  • Proficiency with Git (clone, branch, commit, open merge request).
  • Ability to write Markdown.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Must be able to work on-site in Plano, TX.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Palo Alto Networks Strata or Cortex.
  • Experience with Microsoft Defender.
  • Experience with Fortinet FortiGate or similar products.
  • Background in SOC, NOC, or managed services.
  • Certifications such as Palo Alto Networks Security Operations Professional, Palo Alto Networks Network Security Professional, CompTIA Security+, or Microsoft Security Operations Analyst.
  • Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar.
