The Associate Clinical Research Coordinator supports clinical research in sickle cell disease and transfusion medicine. The role assists with the day-to-day management of ongoing clinical studies, including regulatory and administrative work, patient interactions, and sample management. Duties include collecting and managing regulatory documents, preparing IRB submissions, interacting with patients in clinic and apheresis settings and during study visits, and collecting blood or tissue samples from clinic, hospital, or CTRC locations. Some downstream sample processing is required. Work involving blood requires bloodborne pathogen training, training in proper PPE use, and receipt of the hepatitis B vaccine. Patient interactions require training in human-subject protection and GCP. The employee will provide study updates at weekly sickle cell update meetings but will not be asked to prepare talks or papers outside the group setting. The employee may also assist sickle cell team members or laboratory personnel with basic research laboratory work, including sample processing.
