About The Position

ShorePoint is seeking a SOC Analyst Tier 1 to support enterprise Security Operations Center (SOC) operations onsite in Washington, DC. Under direct supervision, this role reviews, triages, and investigates alerts to contribute to improved incident detection. It is designed for someone beginning a cybersecurity career who has foundational knowledge and can apply basic technical principles. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to the growth and culture of a fast-growing cybersecurity company while developing technical and professional skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or at least 3 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• At least 1 year of hands-on experience working in a 24/7 SOC environment.
• Active Secret clearance that the applicant must maintain.
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and SOC operations.
• Familiarity with incident detection, alert triage, and escalation processes.
• Ability to apply foundational technical knowledge to routine problems.
• Willingness to learn and develop skills under supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation practices.
• Ability to analyze complex requirements and translate them into clear, actionable tasks and processes through critical thinking.

Responsibilities

• Review, triage, and investigate alerts to support incident detection.
• Escalate issues to Tier 2 analysts when appropriate.
• Perform initial analysis of security events to identify potential threats.
• Support SOC monitoring activities under supervision.
• Assist in documenting findings and maintaining SOC records.
• Apply basic technical knowledge to resolve straightforward problems.
• Participate in training and skill development to build cybersecurity expertise.
