About The Position

Provide group and individual instruction to guests. This role involves training and teaching Candidate Instructors, leading lessons and clinic groups, and assisting with various operational tasks such as grooming and teaching area setup. The instructor must maintain a thorough knowledge of snowsports instruction trends, teaching principles, and equipment, while promoting safety and an engaging customer experience. They will also assist Ski Patrol in rescue operations when requested and maintain accurate lesson records. The position requires a clean and safe working environment, the ability to perform job functions physically, and to work collaboratively with colleagues and other departments.

Requirements

  • Advanced ski or snowboard ability.
  • Knowledge of Resort products and runs and able to give directions to their locations.
  • Willingness to voluntarily participate in educational clinics to improve personal skiing/riding skills and understanding of the fundamental skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer services skills.
  • Ability to relate in a positive manner to guests and co-workers.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, problem solve, and multitask.
  • Thorough understanding of company policies and practices.
  • Organized and attention to detail.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Certification: Prior teaching experience or successful completion of new instructor clinics.
  • Minimum two years of advanced intermediate teaching and skiing or snowboarding experience.
  • Background check.

Responsibilities

  • Train and teach Candidate Instructors as needed.
  • Teach lessons and/or lead clinic groups on assigned days or upon request by supervisors.
  • Assist in running grooming, i.e. ski/boot packing, clearing of windfall, teaching area set up and take down, etc.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of current trends in Snowsports instruction from PSIA/AASI, teaching/learning principles, equipment understanding, and methods for education in skillful, safe and fun skiing/riding.
  • Assist the Ski Patrol in rescue operations in the event of avalanche, lost skiers, chair lift failure, and accidents when requested.
  • Maintain up to date and accurate lesson records and other information as needed.
  • Promote safe skiing/riding for safety.
  • Provide an engaging customer experience through friendly and efficient service.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Perform the job and get along with others.
  • Work together with all departments to build a positive working environment.
  • Show up to work on time, consistent attendance, and dependable.
  • Physically perform the essential job functions of this position.
