About The Position

The Snowplow CDL Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and daily maintenance of commercial motor vehicles equipped with plows and salt spreaders to clear ice and snow from resort area subdivision roads and the MT State secondary highway 487. The Snowplow CDL Truck Driver is based out of the Facility Maintenance Shop (Woodshop) and Lower Bone Yard Sand Sheds.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of equipment operating and daily maintenance experience in the area of commercial dump tucks (26K GVWR), snowplows and front end loaders.
  • Must possess a valid Class B type 2 commercial driver’s license and authorization for WSI insurance coverage.
  • Must pass a post offer, drug & alcohol screening as per DOT compliance prior to operating equipment on public roads or show proof of current testing pool.
  • Required annual review of Motor Vehicle Division Records.
  • Required to have DOT health card on file and renewed upon expiration.
  • Must adhere to and promote the safety policies and procedures relating to the operation of heavy equipment and daily maintenance duties.
  • Must thoroughly understand mechanical and electrical functions of machinery, equipment and hydraulics and perform basic maintenance and repairs as needed.

  • Five years of plow equipment operation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operates dump trucks (26k GVWR), snowplows, skid steers and front end loader.
  • Completes pre-trip and post-trip safety checks on trucks, hydraulic systems, and plow attachments.
  • Performs daily maintenance including fluid level checks and greasing as necessary.
  • Operate heavy plow trucks with front or wing-mounted blades to clear assigned routes.
  • Spread salt, sand, or anti-icing chemical liquids on slick roadways.
  • Coordinates snow removal and sanding efforts with the Montana State Highway Department Roads Supervisor.
  • Wash and clear salt buildup from the truck after each shift to prevent corrosion.
  • Notifies direct supervisor or manager of routine maintenance and repair needs for all vehicles and equipment and follows guidelines for vehicle maintenance and repairs in coordination with the Vehicle Maintenance Department.
  • Wears personal protective equipment and safety equipment as required by safety policies and procedures.
  • Completes daily pre-trip vehicle inspection in accordance with DOT standards.
  • Operates fire suppression equipment as required.
  • Familiarity with emergency procedures including traffic control and protocalls in dealing with vehicle accidents on Big Mountain Rd.
  • Uses safety equipment at work sites to assure safety of TEAM members and guests.
  • Maintains a clean & orderly work environment at all times, i.e. cleans vehicles daily.
  • Performs hand sanding and snow shoveling as needed with the safety of employees and guests in mind at all times (i.e. around hydrants).
