About The Position

The Hermitage Club at Haystack Mountain is a premier private resort nestled in the Green Mountains of Vermont, dedicated to delivering world-class skiing and snowboarding experiences. Our Snowmaking team plays a critical role in providing top-quality snow surfaces, ensuring that our members and guests have the best possible conditions on the mountain. We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Snowmaker to join our Snow Surfaces team. This is full time / year round. The primary responsibility of this position is to safely and efficiently operate snowmaking equipment while contributing to the overall success of the team. The ideal candidate will take pride in their work, be a team player, and maintain a positive attitude, all while striving to deliver a perfect snow surface every day.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with no restrictions; must complete a satisfactory MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) check.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to pull, lift, or drag 75 lbs or more and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability and willingness to work long shifts in harsh, winter conditions, including cold, snow, and wind.
  • Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Comfortable working unsupervised in a physically demanding job on challenging terrain.
  • Must adhere to The Hermitage Club’s Safety Program guidelines and contribute to a positive and safe work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience operating snowmobiles or other equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operate snowmaking equipment after completing orientation and on-the-job training.
  • Set up, start up, adjust, and shut down various types of snow guns.
  • Perform general maintenance and housekeeping of buildings, equipment, snow guns, and hoses.
  • Conduct general maintenance and pre-operational checks on equipment.
  • Operate a snowmobile in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Be willing to assist other departments during peak periods, which may include lift operations, parking, food and beverage, and more.
  • Work collaboratively with the Snowmaking team to ensure snow guns produce the most cost-effective and highest quality snow possible.
  • Receive daily work instructions and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management or supervisors.
