About The Position

To provide safe, professional, competent and fun instruction skiing and/or snowboarding at The Arizona Snowbowl. Teach skills and techniques in a clear concise manner per the department's policies and progressions.

Requirements

  • Possess a strong ability to engage and connect with children and adults, using fun and interactive teaching methods.
  • Attend at least fifteen (15) hours of continuing education training clinics per season.
  • Ability to physically spend a full day on skis/snowboard in any type of weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Snow shoveling as required.
  • Effectively communicate orally and in written form in a professional and tactful manner.
  • React well under pressure, treat others with respect and consideration regardless of status or position and accept responsibility for own actions.
  • Multi-task and function effectively in a challenging environment.
  • Carry out all job related tasks in a safe and efficient manner observing company and department safety and security procedures, determine appropriate action beyond guidelines, if necessary, report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly.
  • Maintain control of a group of Guests, of any age, providing a safe and productive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Possess the ability to physically and verbally demonstrate the tasks and skills associated with teaching snowsports progressions.
  • Make appropriate decisions regarding student progressions, terrain, and teaching different abilities/attitudes.
  • Promote and emphasize safety in all classes.
  • Act as an educator including but not limited to crowd supervision, safety awareness, terrain park etiquette, responsibility code, and guest relations by performing assigned duties.
  • Ensure a safe and nurturing environment for our younger students, providing constant supervision.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress and daily activities.
  • Instructor assignments could change frequently throughout their work day.
  • Wear assigned uniform jacket with solid black snow pants. Uniforms must be clean with accessories appropriate for ski and snowboard professionals.
  • Overall appearance must be neat, clean and professional.
  • Understand and adhere to all Ski & Snowboard School policies and procedures.
  • Meet, greet and inform Guests at assigned locations.
  • Able to deal with possible incidents arising out of lessons, file proper reports accurately and timely, and follow all the rules regarding incident reporting.
  • Adapt to changes in work environment, schedule changes, delays or unexpected events.
  • Effectively communicate and work with other departments.
  • Consistently arrive at work on time, follow instructions, respond to management direction, commit to work hours to reach goals, and attend all required staff meetings.
