The Snow Surfaces Manager is responsible for leadership, management, and daily execution of all snow surfaces related activities including snowmaking, grooming, terrain parks, and may assist with oversight of summer trail crew. This position requires hands-on execution in the field, including nights during the snowmaking season (mid Oct-mid Jan). General responsibilities include hiring, training, managing, and mentoring a team consisting of a supervisor, a lead groomer, 8-10 snowmakers, 3-4 snowcat operators, and 3-4 terrain park attendants. The manager is also responsible for maintaining a culture of safety, ensuring proper vehicle training and documentation, conducting daily/weekly safety topics, and holding staff accountable both verbally and in writing. They must maintain professional relationships with staff, business partners, and contractors, facilitate effective communication between departments and with Marketing, and ensure website and social media feeds are up to date with Mountain Ops related material. Additionally, the manager is responsible for maintaining working knowledge of the HRIS system (Paylocity) for timely timecard and PTO approvals and submission of required paperwork to HR, and completing timely performance evaluations.
