About The Position

The Snowmaker is crucial in creating the ideal skiing conditions at Spirit Mountain. This role involves managing and operating Snowmaking equipment such as snowmobiles and blowers to produce artificial snow, ensuring the mountain is primed for skiing and snowboarding activities. The Snowmaker plays a pivotal part in mountain operations, often being the first on the slopes and the last to leave, while experiencing the mountain in its most pristine state. While this position only typically last for a few months, we encourage our Snowmakers to also apply to Outdoor Operations as Lift Attendants to transfer positions mid season. While we are now accepting applications, please note that hiring will begin in October. We appreciate your patience as we prepare for another exciting winter season!

Requirements

• Attend Snowmaking and Snowmobile trainings in November.
• Age 18 years or older.
• Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Ability to ride snowmobile or want to learn preferred.
• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Competence in working under adverse weather conditions.
• Bend, twist, and turn regularly.
• Regularly lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate artificial snowmaking equipment along ski trails.
• Navigate ski trails using chair lifts or snow-terrain vehicles to access equipment.
• Connect equipment to compressed air and water pipelines, adjusting for optimal snow production.
• Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on snowmaking equipment.
• Reposition equipment to cover various trail sections or shut off when snow coverage is adequate.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and clear any obstructions.
• Work in different shifts, including day and night, to ensure continuous snow production.
