About The Position

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) is seeking a talented SNAP® Facilitator to administer the SNAP® Girls and Boys curriculum to parent or child groups during a 13-week cycle. The role requires attending core SNAP training, submitting mock role-plays, and demonstrating a commitment to the SNAP program and its values. The facilitator will work under the supervision of the SNAP® Coordinator and participate in various meetings and consultation calls. This position utilizes a strength-based perspective to help youth and families improve their lives by engaging families, advocating on their behalf, initiating change agent activities, helping them access community supports, teaching problem-solving skills, modeling productive behaviors, and assisting in the successful completion of developmental milestones. The schedule involves evening hours that may vary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma with a minimum of 3-5 years of human service experience.
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and written).
  • Solid knowledge of the rules of grammar and punctuation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to demonstrate active listening, validation, and patience in a group session.
  • Basic computer skills for creating Word and Excel documents.
  • Ability to upload videos to Dropbox and use Video Conferencing Programs like Zoom.
  • Knowledge of methods of compiling data.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques.
  • Display professionalism in day-to-day operations, including response to feedback, direction, suggestions, accepting responsibility, working as a team player, volunteering when needed, reporting whereabouts, and promoting a cohesive working environment.
  • Display professionalism in communications and ongoing working relationships with outside agencies and organizations.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Ability to move about the office or service site.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for computer work, paperwork, and data entry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and in writing.
  • Visual and auditory ability to read documents, view computer screens, and engage in conversations.
  • Ability to travel locally to outreach or community sites using personal or agency-provided transportation.
  • Must demonstrate a passion for intervention.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the SNAP® Girls and Boys curriculum to parent or child groups during 13-week cycles.
  • Attend the 5-day core SNAP training and submit mock role-plays.
  • Complete staff training as required by SNAP® and the agency.
  • Facilitate SNAP® curriculum within the fidelity of the model.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the SNAP program and SNAP values.
  • Commit to participating in a minimum of two 13-week group cycles.
  • Participate in the intake and assessment process, as requested.
  • Support the SNAP® Coordinator with organization of food arrangements, as needed.
  • Participate in pre-briefing and de-briefing meetings weekly with other SNAP® Team members, arriving one hour early and staying 30 minutes after group.
  • Participate in weekly consultation calls with the Florida Network, as requested.
  • Facilitate SNAP® in Schools curriculum in 13-week cycles, as assigned.
  • Utilize a strength-based perspective to help youth and families strengthen and manage the quality of their lives.
  • Work under the supervision of the SNAP® Coordinator and participate in staff meetings as requested.
  • Demonstrate a passion for intervention.
  • Submit accurate, complete, and timely reports.
  • Maintain professionalism in all LSF matters.
