About The Position

This role involves researching, designing, developing, and/or testing operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations. The engineer will apply principles and techniques of computer science, electronic engineering, and mathematical analysis. Responsibilities include designing, developing, troubleshooting, and debugging software for enhancements and new semiconductor products, as well as developing software and tools in support of electronic design, infrastructure, and technology platforms. The role also involves determining hardware compatibility and influencing hardware design, driving projects or processes of significant technical importance, and exercising independent judgment with little to no supervision. The engineer will utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including hardware, software, applications, and programming, as well as engineering principles and technologies for the design, development, and testing of AMD systems and products.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.
  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field and five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or closely related engineering role.
  • Two (2) years of experience in System architecture
  • Two (2) years of experience in Running, analyzing, and system benchmarks
  • Two (2) years of experience in Programming in Python, C, or C++
  • Two (2) years of experience in Unix/Linux environments
  • Two (2) years of experience in CPU and GPU architecture
  • Two (2) years of experience in GPU programming
  • Two (2) years of experience in Machine-Learning
  • Two (2) years of experience in Object Oriented design
  • Two (2) years of experience in Code optimization using GPU or software performance analysis
  • Two (2) years of experience in GNU toolchain
  • Two (2) years of experience in Open source software development

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations.
  • Apply principles and techniques of computer science, electronic engineering, and mathematical analysis.
  • Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software for enhancements and new semiconductor products.
  • Develop software and tools in support of electronic design, infrastructure and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, and/or databases.
  • Determine hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design.
  • Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance.
  • Exercise independent judgment to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results with little to no supervision.
  • Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD systems and products.
