SMTS Product Manager - Global Tapeout and Mask Organization

GlobalFoundries•Essex Junction, VT
•$118,000 - $210,000

About The Position

As a Product Manager, you will lead the strategy, roadmap, and business ownership of critical tapeout engineering capabilities supporting product configuration, design-data validation, and manufacturing readiness. These capabilities sit at the intersection of customer design enablement, tapeout engineering, and semiconductor manufacturing, ensuring products are accurately defined, validated, and prepared for production. You will partner with Product Lines, manufacturing fabs, and Customer Sales to modernize tapeout workflows and deliver a seamless customer experience. The role owns product configuration and design-data verification capabilities, including the Global Product Configurator (GPC), which captures technology, process, and product options, and the Global Product Validator (GPV), which checks customer design content against expected manufacturing configurations before and during tapeout. The Product Manager serves as the primary business owner and subject matter expert for these solutions, aligning them with strategic business and manufacturing objectives. The position also creates features for product enhancement and transformation, tests product functionality, and collaborates on training needs. The role requires strong people leadership, accountability, the ability to explain technical complexity to executives, sound judgment, and collaborative, outcomes-oriented execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, such as Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 12 or more years of experience in semiconductor operations, product management, data management, or a closely related field.
  • Experience owning software or data products end to end, from roadmap through release.
  • Working knowledge of semiconductor design data, DMs, PDKs, mask layers, and tapeout flows, or demonstrated ability to come up to speed quickly in a technical manufacturing domain.
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity and influence technical and non-technical stakeholder groups.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, planning, and organizational skills, with a bias toward continuously improving system solutions, documentation, and operating procedures.
  • Strong people leadership and talent development mindset.
  • Execution-focused approach with high accountability standards.
  • Ability to translate technical complexity into executive-level insights.
  • Confident decision-making and escalation judgment.
  • Collaborative, calm-under-pressure, outcomes-oriented approach.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Project management skills, including the ability to innovate and execute on meaningful solutions and navigate ambiguity.
  • 13 or more years of experience in semiconductor operations, product and data management, tapeout flows, and technical work in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product strategy, roadmap, and release priorities for product configuration and design-data verification capabilities, partnering with Product Lines, Sales, Manufacturing, Tapeout Engineering, and IT stakeholders.
  • Ensure seamless integration of configuration and verification processes, maintaining a single source of truth from customer order definition through tapeout and manufacturing execution.
  • Drive improvements in data quality, configuration governance, and validation controls to reduce setup errors, verification mismatches, and downstream escalations.
  • Translate business, technology, and manufacturing requirements into scalable product capabilities, automated rules, and user-centric workflows.
  • Enable new technology nodes, products, and manufacturing offerings by ensuring configuration options and verification methodologies are accurately modeled and validated before customer deployment.
  • Improve platform usability, performance, automation, and scalability to accelerate customer onboarding, design verification, and tapeout readiness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to prioritize enhancements, manage product backlogs, and deliver solutions that improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators, including configuration accuracy, verification coverage, escape prevention, respin risk reduction, tapeout cycle time, and user adoption.
  • Serve as the primary business owner and subject matter expert for product configuration and design-data verification solutions, ensuring alignment with strategic business and manufacturing objectives.
  • Create features required for product enhancement and transformation, perform product functionality testing, and collaborate on training needs.
  • Perform all activities safely and responsibly and support Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security requirements and programs.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager or supervisor.
