About The Position
KMC Controls, Inc., a leader in innovative building automation and control solutions, is seeking a skilled SMT Process Technician to join our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) team. This position plays a key role in supporting our SMT operations, ensuring the quality and efficiency of our electronic assembly processes.
Requirements
- A High School diploma or GED is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of hands-on SMT experience in programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Ability to solder circuit boards and use small hand/power tools is required.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with SMT equipment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
Nice To Haves
- An associate degree in a technical field is preferred.
- Experience training operators and improving SMT processes strongly is preferred.
- SMT programming software experience a plus.
Responsibilities
- Program and optimize SMT equipment, including pick-and-place machines, screen printers, reflow ovens, automated optical inspection (AOI), and conveyors.
- Troubleshoot and resolve advanced SMT machine issues such as part picking, orientation, fiducials, tray/pick adjustments, and nozzle/vacuum errors.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, including feeder and nozzle upkeep.
- Assist in New Product Introduction (NPI), prototypes, and manufacturability reviews.
- Train and support SMT operators to ensure consistency and best practices.
- Drive process improvements to reduce cycle times, increase yields, and improve product quality.
