About The Position

The SMT Operator is assigned to a production line and programs and manages the machines that assemble our circuit boards that are created by the surface mount technology (SMT) process. This automated process manufactures the majority of our circuit boards and is vital to our operations. Who are we? Founded in 1849, Ducommun is the oldest company in California. Depending on the candidate's skills, qualifications and experience, they will be hired into an entry (I) level, intermediate (II) level or expert (III) level job and pay scale.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand load plans
  • Ability to read and understand production drawings
  • Basic component identification skills
  • Ability to build electronic assemblies
  • H.S. Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Load and assist with setup and staging of product on the SMT lines.
  • Perform setup and tear down on all feeders for all pick and place machines
  • Assist the operator in setting up and running all pick and place machines
  • Perform manual placement of SMT and PIH components
  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste (cleaning chemicals and solder paste) generated in their work area.
  • Perform other assignments as required
