About The Position

As a vital part of the Curing department, the Smokehouse Operator must learn and understand our cooking process. This position requires an extensive knowledge of HACCP and will be required to complete HACCP training requirements to ensure food safety. This position will be required to adequately record the product's temperature coming out of the cooler. This position requires heavy lifting, the incumbent must be able to lift 70 lbs., and move 1,500 lbs. using the overhead rail system. This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills. This facility does not accept rehires at this time.

Requirements

  • 6 months of work experience with one employer in the last 24 months
  • Extensive knowledge of HACCP and will be required to complete HACCP training requirements to ensure food safety.
  • Adequately record the product's temperature coming out of the cooler.
  • Must be available to work the required schedule.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the job duties consistent with standard training and support provided for the role.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, including reading and writing in order to complete job-related tasks.
  • Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Heavy lifting, the incumbent must be able to lift 70 lbs., and move 1,500 lbs. using the overhead rail system.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Tyson safety policies including, but not limited to, Lock-Out Tag-Out.
  • Wear all Personal Protective Equipment deemed necessary by Tyson Foods.
  • Ensure adequate documentation is retained during the operation.
  • Maintain continuous communication with the Smokehouse Lead.
  • Move, weigh, and record product entering and exiting the smokehouse.
  • Maintain adequate documentation of product temperatures when leaving the blast cooler to ensure the product is within the HACCP standard.
  • Follow USDA Regulations, Tyson Processing HACCP, Tyson GMP, and Tyson Sanitation policies to ensure the utmost safety of our product.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
  • Ensure the product meets the customer’s standards.
