About The Position

The Small Tools & Equipment Technician is responsible for the control, tracking, inspection, maintenance, and repair of company-owned small tools and support equipment. This role ensures tools are safe, operational, and accurately tracked to support field and shop operations. The position plays a key role in maintaining asset accountability, supporting job cost accuracy, and ensuring operational readiness across crews.

Requirements

2+ years of experience in a shop, fleet, construction, or equipment environment preferred.
Mechanical aptitude and ability to safely operate tools and shop equipment.
Basic computer skills for tracking and reporting purposes.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently while supporting a team environment.

Responsibilities

Manage check-in and check-out process for tools and small equipment.
Track equipment usage and maintain accurate location records.
Contact field operators to confirm ongoing equipment needs.
Provide equipment usage reports to warehouse and accounting for accurate job charging.
Inspect tools and equipment for damage, wear, and safety concerns.
Perform minor repairs on malfunctioning tools and equipment.
Coordinate larger repairs with Fleet Manager or approved vendors.
Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records.
Assist with small parts inventory management and organization.
Run parts as needed to support shop and field operations.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe storage areas.
Support overall shop operations and assist with additional duties as assigned.
