About The Position

Ideal Electric is seeking a skilled Small Motor Winding / VPI Technician to join our expanding manufacturing team in Mansfield. This hands-on role involves stripping, rewinding, insulating, and performing Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) on AC and DC motor components, ensuring they meet the high-quality standards for which Ideal Electric is known. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in AC/DC electric motor winding or a related industrial electrical repair field.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, winding data sheets, and blueprints.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity for handling small components.
  • Must be a "U.S. Person" as defined by the ITAR (22 C.F.R. § 120.62) or be able to obtain the appropriate U.S. government authorization (export license) to access such technology or technical data.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, and work in a manufacturing shop environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Must be able to exhibit specific vision abilities required by this job which include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary in this position.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid passport and US-issued driver's license.
  • Maintain a driving record that is acceptable for coverage under the company's insurance plan.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating VPI systems is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with EASA (Electrical Apparatus Service Association) standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Wind coils for small exciters in accordance with engineering specifications
  • Set up and operate coil winding equipment and tooling
  • Prepare and wind exciter components following instructions, drawings, and technical data
  • Prepare coils for processing, including insulating, taping, and securing materials
  • Prepare stators for Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) operations
  • Maintain resin integrity and monitor material condition per process requirements
  • Load and assist in operating the VPI tank to impregnate stators and rotors
  • Inspect finished exciters for quality, accuracy, and workmanship
  • Read and follow blueprints, work instructions, and production orders
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Document production activity and report defects, deviations, or equipment issues
