About The Position

GreenShield is a non-profit social enterprise focused on improving health for all Canadians. They are seeking a Small Group Underwriter for a 12-month contract. This role involves assisting underwriters with quote activity for new business, supporting renewal and alternative plan design costing, auditing financial factors for new business, preparing EP3 statements and ASO reconciliations, assisting with monthly renewals for small groups, and supporting departmental functions and reporting. The role also contributes to developing departmental strategy and improving processes.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or Computer Science or proven analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years' work experience in the Group Insurance industry.
  • Technically proficient with Microsoft Office, including working knowledge of Excel, Word, etc.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workloads efficiently in order to meet deadlines.
  • Able to effectively draft a concise, clear proposal.
  • Proficiency in English is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English-French) is an asset.
  • Business Objects knowledge an asset.
  • Ability to present proposals to Sales when required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist underwriters with quote activity for prospective/new business.
  • Support underwriters with renewal and alternative plan design costing activities.
  • Audit key financial factors for newly sold business.
  • Prepare EP3 statements for all applicable clients.
  • Prepare ASO reconciliations and Transfer ASO deposit calculations.
  • Assist in the preparation of small group “pool” monthly renewals, ensuring proper groups and appropriate rates are applied.
  • Assist the Director, Group Underwriting and Manager, Group Underwriting in performing departmental functions and reporting.
  • Respond to client requests.
  • Assist in developing departmental strategy and improving processes.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Base Salary: CAD $51,383.00 - 79,261.00
