About The Position

A Driver - CDL (B) safely operates a collection truck and provides prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services for customers. The driver ensures the vehicle meets company safety standards before operation, follows company, state, and federal regulations, and completes daily vehicle condition reports so defects can be repaired promptly. The driver follows assigned routes, serves customers professionally, handles refuse and disposal tasks safely, maintains vehicle readiness, and completes required reports while meeting departmental productivity and safety standards.

Requirements

Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes endorsement.
Good customer service skills and a professional, courteous, cooperative, honest, and trustworthy approach.
Good time-management skills to complete responsibilities efficiently and safely.
Ability to follow through, adhere to the work schedule, and address challenges as they arise.
Ability to follow company policies and rules, promote safety standards, and avoid inappropriate risks.

Nice To Haves

Two years of prior experience driving commercial trucks preferred.
Class A Commercial Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

Perform complete pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections according to company policy, checking tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls; report safety issues on standard reports.
Safely operate the truck along designated routes and to disposal sites, using route sheets and maps and servicing customers as assigned.
Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of collected material at designated facilities.
Interact courteously and professionally with customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure routes are serviced promptly.
Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them according to departmental procedures.
Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable materials.
Clean areas affected by accidental waste spills while following applicable safety standards and policies.
Monitor vehicle condition to maintain operational readiness and minimize downtime; clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on disposal trips where appropriate.
Complete required route and productivity sheets, vehicle condition reports, and other reports.
Meet required departmental productivity standards to ensure customers are serviced efficiently and on time.
Follow required safety policies and procedures and actively participate in the Company’s ReSOP program.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
