About The Position

Genex Systems is looking for a Small Construction Project Coordinator to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering (CMOE) contract at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. The Small Construction Project Coordinator reports directly to the Program Manager. All work will be performed with a high standard of quality and professionalism. All safety policies and procedures must be followed.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Two (2) years of college with courses in engineering or associated disciplines, and six (6) years of related experience preferred. Additional relevant education or construction project management experience may be substituted for any equivalent combination of education/experience for a total of eight (8) years.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of programs gained through long and varied work experience in field of specialty.
  • Effectively communicate both orally and written with effective use of visual aids.
  • Use computing technology for problem analysis and solution.
  • Valid Real ID compliant identification
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety/risk hazard to the employee or others.
  • The work environment requires the ability to cooperate and work with individuals at all levels of the company and the client organization.
  • Employees will exercise diligence when developing a Safe Plan of Action (SPA) for each task performed. Your SPA is a Company provided tool to be used for the prevention of incidents, accidents, and injuries.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in building and/or systems construction, management and construction cost estimating preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction trades with an emphasis on Mechanical/HVAC
  • Working proficiency with computer aided drafting software such as AutoCAD, and computerized maintenance management system such as MAXIMO are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate construction projects from the initial request phase to the completion and close out phase including planning and estimating, coordinating subcontractors, awarding contracts, minor construction management, on site verification, tracking of schedule and costs, constant communication with the customer and ability to close out a project finalizing all of the necessary deliverables
  • Create an independent construction estimate using tools such as RSMeans Construction Cost Data
  • Read engineered drawings and specifications to identify scope of projects
  • Help in the development of drawings and specifications for construction projects
  • Proficient user of MS Word, Excel, Project, and Power Point
  • Create business letters, correspondence and reports in final form, using correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, form, etc.
  • Apply knowledge of project management principles, practices, methods, and techniques
  • Deal with others in person-to-person work relationships and make decisions
  • Self-directed in order to coordinate numerous projects on time, all at varying project phases, with little oversight
