About The Position
Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Small Business Underwriter on our Sompo Pro Cyber Underwriting team. Our Sompo Pro Small Business Underwriting team offers Cyber and Miscellaneous Professional Liability for primary and excess risks. We work through a network of brokers who share our commitment to long-term partnerships built on a strong service proposition. This position will be based out of our Chicago, IL office. Requirements
- 2-3 years of Insurance experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to travel approximate 10% of the time
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
Responsibilities
- Review applications and financial requirements to determine acceptability of risk in accordance with guidelines and standards
- Evaluate and price risk using rating tools, predictive models, and financial analysis.
- Apply underwriting guidelines and tools to review accounts, document decisions, and manage appeals, requirements, and declinations.
- Adhere to Sompo Pro guidelines and underwriting discipline to minimize exposure and appropriately price
- Manage assigned portfolio to achieve gross written premium, profitability, rate, retention, product mix, new business and portfolio management goals
- Prioritize time and resources to effectively manage and optimize producer performance
- Develop producer relationships to build pipeline, agency intelligence, and drive performance to meet and exceed results
- Drive effective relationship management and customer activities to build trust, facilitate negotiation and secure commitment with the customer
